The Abbots Mitre Chilbolton has been re-0pened by Tom Romita in June 2011. Together with their families and chefs, the team is committed to bringing you the very best of food, drink, and pub atmosphere. Tom has worked hard to blend his Italian heritage, with its emphasis on warm hospitality, into the hardwood timbers of this historic pub. |

Our restaurant has rich chianti-red walls and we like to think our food embodies the same richness and quality. Our menu is full of hearty Italian favourites, pasta and antipasta alike. We also offer a lighter bar menu and thin-crust pizzas which can be devoured in our restaurant, pub or in the comfort of your own home. |

Our wine list is designed to be paired with Italian food. It features more than 25 wines from nearly every region of Italy. Each wine has been carefully chosen to suit a wide range of palettes (or allegiances!). Tom, a loyal Puglian, recommends the Primitivo. |

The bar offers a choice of nine local, national and international beers. Most recently we have added a tap which features Peroni Nastro Azzurro to our bar. This beer should prove thirst-quenching to Tuscans and cricketers alike. |

Chilbolton is home to an airfield which was important to Britain’s victory in WWII. The airfield opened in 1938 and was used by Hurricanes and Spitfires during the Battle of Britain in 1940. The airfield was also used to seize control of bridges in Holland and in the Battle of the Bulge. The airfield was closed in 1961, but you can learn more about its history on the walls of our pub. |

We brought black & white photos back with us from Rome. They feature many famous scenes from Italian films of the 1960s, for example La Dolce Vita. You can also spot Audrey Hepburn in the classic Roman Holiday. We especially tried to find scenes that would make you hungry for some good Italian food. |

The beautiful 12th century church, St. Mary’s the Less, is only a few yards from the pub. The pub is also situated in the Test Valley where walkers & fishers have trodden extensively (and left us good notes!). For fishermen and fish lovers, the Test Valley Smokery is just down the road and operates a local store. For local fisherman, we are pleased to be able to offer to cook your most recent catch and serve it with your choice of vegetables and potatoes. Just ask! |

You can buy lovingly tended authentic Chilbolton honey from Jolyon & Jennie Pope just opposite the Abbots Mitre (look for a small blackboard sign). You can ‘buzz’ their bell anytime or ring on 01264 860852. Did you know that a hive laden with honey for the winter will weigh more than 40lbs? |
